2015 : JUDGMENTAL
There I was working temporarily in a medium-sized firm in 2015. Why I took up the job? The salary was high and I could start immediately..I was too lazy to search more job options so, I just grabbed it!
I never thought that the firm owners (two of them) were NOT open-minded bcoz I always assumed that the more EDUCATED human are, the more OPEN their mind should be, right? NOT in this case however.
Throughout my employment in that firm, I was looked down by these owners due to my Islamic attire aka I was a hijabster back then..I could see their unpleasant facial expressions each time I approached them to sign documents..Got to know that behind my back, they were ridiculing me..criticising me..condemning me..just bcoz I was in Muslim's clothings. SERIOUSLY, guys?! I was also told that I was accepted for employment bcoz my expected salary in my resume was the lowest..whereas other job applicants were asking for SGD3,000 and above! Oh I see! They had no high budget for temporary staff.
I have sinned and indeed I sinned differ than these owners..but I always try my best to know people in depth before I could even give any comments about them..Absolutely NOT like these owners whom I shall assumed have been influenced by the propagandas of media..all kinds of media including social media!
These owners were two old men..sorry to say the next..two old Asian Black Men to be precised..which their own community too have been discriminated and looked down over the years by other Asians..Don't they feel what I was going thru' under their racist concept of minds? If they do, why are they doing the same to me? I did nothing wrong to them..I did not call them "Blackie", right? So, why discriminated me just bcoz I was in Muslim clothings? WHY?
Yes! Those terrorist attacks in the US years ago were Muslims..Yes! OBL was a Muslim..but they are NOT me!
I don't even dare to beat cockroaches to death, what more attacks other humans like a terrorist? Just bcoz I wore Muslim clothings and followed Islamic beliefs DO NOT make me a terrorist! Why others' sins befallen upon me? I am innocent!
I can always accept these owners' concept of mind if they are Westerners from Western countries and forgotten they are working in Asia right now, not in their western homelands..but these owners are Asian men, living in Asia, working in Asia, eating Asian foods? Gimme a break! These owners should have the concept of open-mindedness as more Muslims are surrounding them in Asia rather than in Western countries. Sad. Pity. This kind of mind concept I could not tolerate and accept indeed.
If their ruthless acts were due to their bad/bitter past experience communicating face to face with the Muslims, I think I can understand BUT they confirmed having NO such experience so, WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?!
I only able to conclude that they are just JUDGMENTAL people..who refused to get to know..no means of understanding and respecting others from different races and religious beliefs..Shameful if they are true blue Singapore citizen who in the past - during schooldays, they pledged "regards race and religion"..Extremely sad!
December 2015..My employment contract WAS NOT renewed..HR's REASON: "Not much portfolios to work on"..I just smiled faintly, took my paycheck and made my exit. NO regret..NO grudges. Lesson learnt. I learnt to understand. Well, I do not need a workplace where I am not wanted. I do not need people who do not need me.
MY EXPERIENCE IN LIFE - 2015
1. Not only at western countries that JUDGMENTAL people exist and DISCRIMINATION taken place; it happens in Asia too!
2. Not all scholars have a heart of kindness to treat all humans the same..bcoz being EDUCATED people at times does not guaranteed humanity exist in their heart.
3. Every day is a new lesson learnt. Everyone is a teacher who taught me that lesson!
